Mindset Matters to Unlock Learning - Creating self-belief and a culture of positivity in the classroom

mindset matters pexels imageThis event explores how coaching aligns to the theory of Growth Mindset and through the use of positive questioning and building the self-belief and self-esteem of learners there is a positive impact on learning, behaviour and achievement

The practical application of strategies and techniques provide solutions to current challenges within the classroom: promoting independent learning, fostering resilience, embedding formative assessment, ensuring progress at all key stages and creating the right environment for all pupils to achieve their full potential.

Teachers and pupils can benefit from a deeper understanding of how the brain develops and how through positive thinking and increased effort we can all improve to achieve far more.

This event challenges teachers and provides a wealth of resources and activities that they can take back to use in the classroom to motivate learners to be innovative with their learning and move away from a paradigm that makes them reluctant to take risks and embrace challenge.

The day will include:

  • A focus on Mindset theory and where it applies to learning in the classroom and how developing a range of coaching skills can be integral to successful implementation
  • Identifying how we can promote mastery and deeper learning by using highly effective formative assessment strategies linked to a Growth Mindset philosophy
  • An exploration of some of the techniques that give pupils a deeper understanding of the importance of effort and challenge in shaping their learning
  • How to put the theory of Growth Mindset into practice in order to promote independence and foster resilience so that learners feel confident to accept and embrace challenge
  • An opportunity to use and practice some highly praised coaching techniques that will provide the skills for teachers to build or maintain a Growth Mindset culture that promotes self-reliance and positive thinking for all pupils whatever their ability
  • Time to plan how to embed positive mindset theory through the development of a range of highly effective coaching strategies

Who is this event for?

CPD Managers who can take the learning away from the day and cascade it to other teams within the school. Heads of teaching and learning and school improvement who can use some of the techniques to enhance their own understanding of deep learning and the power of positivity in the classroom. Heads of Department or subject leaders who can focus on how the theories that underpin effective classroom practice within this sphere can impact on learning and support deeper learning and understanding. This event will also be extremely valuable for classroom practitioners who will gain a range of skills and a level of self awareness in relation to their own mindsets that will have a positive impact on their teaching in the future.
