Managing the Pupil Premium - Two live webinar sessions focusing on how to create evidence of impact on learning and closing the achievement gap for all
This event will run:-
as morning sessions from 10.00 until 12.30 over two weeks
or as twilight sessions from 16.00 to 18.30 over two weeks
The intervening week can be used for reflection, collaboration and an opportunity to share with colleagues the learning from the first session to review some of the valuable resources and materials that will help to shape future planning.
The use of Pupil Premium funding to close the achievement gap between those pupils receiving it and their non-Pupil Premium peers continues to be a key area of accountability in the latest Ofsted framework and handbook for 2020. This online course focuses on how to ensure that the use of pupil premium funding has a positive impact on the learning and progress of disadvantaged pupils.
This event brings together best practice, a wealth of expertise and the latest advice and guidance in how to ensure that schools can show profound evidence that Pupil Premium funding has a lasting impact on ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential.
This course will provide-
- A review of current DfE and OFSTED requirements, what evidence OFSTED are looking to see and any changes that those involved need to be aware of
- A focus on recent research that has been undertaken into effective intervention strategies and the impact these are having on learning, achievement and progress of specific groups of learners
- An opportunity to look at tools and techniques that will support strategic improvement in the use of pupil premium
- Time to reflect on what is working well, what could be improved and any innovations from the day that might be completely new and innovative
- Resources to use to support the production of an action plan analysing and using relevant data and tracking documentation
- A facilitated workshop in the afternoon will give time to reflect on how Pupil Premium funding is currently used and its impact on learning, to decide on next steps and to begin to respond to the training input by completing a RAG-rated audit, producing an action plan, analysing external and internal tracking data, updating policy documents and reviewing the on-line statement.
- There will also be an opportunity to consider the increasing range of recently researched interventions reported on through the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) website
OFSTED will gather evidence about the use of the pupil premium, particularly regarding:
- the level of pupil premium funding received by the school in the current academic year and levels of funding received in previous academic years
- how leaders and governors have spent the pupil premium, their rationale for this spending and its intended impact
- the learning and progress of disadvantaged pupils, as shown by published outcomes data
In his role as a national trainer and consultant, former head teacher Nigel Bishop brings his wide experience of school-based learning and leadership to bear on a variety of current issues, notably the Pupil Premium and learning support. His warmth and gentle humour combine with enthusiasm to revive those who learn with him, as well as equipping them to continue moving mountains. The content of the event will be highly beneficial to primary, secondary and special school leaders and managers who have responsibility for this important funding stream.
