Lynn Matthews has written our Lesson Study event - A collaborative approach to lesson observation as an integral part of informal continuing professional development. Lesson study provides opportunities for learning conversations that allow teachers to work together to explore possibilities and push the boundaries so that they grow as professionals together. The benefits for both the teacher and the pupils involved are profound and have an impact on individual and school performance.
Here at Learning Cultures, we take a holistic approach to creating staff development opportunities, which can be cascaded throughout a school or college.
Our event ‘Coaching for Cover Supervisors and Support Staff’ has been running for several years now and has been developed by our trainer Jo Tooth. Coaching is about supporting the individual to find their own solutions.
For teaching assistants learning some coaching skills can have huge benefits in allowing more space for the learner to solve their own problems, learn from mistakes and articulate what and how they are learning.
