Coaching for Cover Supervisors

'Rarely Cover' has brought to prominence the role of the Cover Supervisor. They are important in ensuring the smooth running of the school when teachers are absent and are an integral part of the learning process. Following wide consultation and requests from a number of headteachers we have designed a training programme to support Cover Supervisors in becoming a seamless replacement for the teacher allowing the learning to continue bringing positive outcomes for the learner, the regular teacher and the school.

The one day event will focus on:-

  • The role of the Cover Supervisor - reviewing their impact on learning
  • What should the Cover Supervisor expect from learners, teachers and the school
  • Peer to peer support through coaching
  • Creating a positive approach to classroom management
  • Reflection and communication – next steps to ensure positive outcomes for cover lessons

Creating opportunities for dialogue, reflection and peer to peer communication can help to ensure that those members of the team who work in the role of Cover Supervisors have the confidence and are equipped with the skills to support the teacher in ensuring the learning is seamless.

"This course really helped me to adapt my teaching / management style to suit each subject, teacher and classroom I teach. I guess I’m saying that I feel EVEN more adaptable and that has been very valuable". - Delegate at the Bristol event last term

"Excellent day, I can't wait to put some of the ideas into practice. The trainer was so helpful and gave so many useful ideas and tips" - Delegate in London recently
