Progressive learning – Planning a programme of Foundation Learning

Foundation Learning is one of the building blocks of the reform of 14 – 19 education and is one of four pathways to ensuring learner achievement at key stage 3, 4 and 5 and beyond. It offers a real opportunity to develop a programme of study for Entry Level and Level one learners that will help them to thrive and succeed. The Government have now announced that funding for Foundation Learning will continue until at least 2013.

Our coaching model can provide a profound opportunity to allow for teachers, support staff and their managers to work together to design and deliver really innovative and exciting programmes and then cascade their plans, ideas and activities to others. We are offering a one day training opportunity for those involved in this important aspect of Government policy to explore how to create a programme that will really make a difference to the learning and life chances of learners who are working at Entry Level or Level 1.

The day will include:-

  • Exploring the structure of the new Foundation Learning framework
  • Creating an action plan to ensure readiness for planning initial assessment, ongoing review, learner and parent involvement and the development of an innovative curriculum model
  • Focusing on designing personalised learning programmes
  • Exploring how the Qualification and Credit Framework can benefit learners
  • Planning progression pathways for learners
  • Reviewing assessment opportunities for learners

This event can form part of our SCOPE programme or as a stand alone training opportunity for those responsible for planning and delivering a programme of Foundation Learning within your organisation. The coaching techniques that underpin all our training provide a unique opportunity for all those who attend to cascade their experience to others within their team department or across the whole organisation.

In addition, tailored training can be arranged on a range of Foundation Learning topics including designing personalised learning programmes, exploring the potential of the QCF, initial assessment, partnership working, securing progression, supporting the achievement of LDD learners and assuring quality.

This training is available to staff in colleges and learning providers, and to groups of Foundation Learning delivery partners.
