Language, Literacy and Listening Across the Curriculum

Developing effective communication skills, being able to listen and understand, read with real love and understanding and write creatively, knowledgeably and for a variety of audiences and purposes are skills that all individuals need to learn, to be a part of a community, to work and to play. They are being practised and developed across all subjects and across the broader curriculum and beyond in every school, college or other education provider. To be an outstanding teacher and to really understand the learning process teachers need to support learners make connections so that they are fully aware of the skills they are using and how these transfer across all their learning.

This event will provide a mixture of the theory of pedagogy and practical applications so that each delegate will have a deeper understanding of how learners can become masters of their own language, understanding how to make connections and become unconsciously competent in a range of language related skills and techniques. We will look across the curriculum and see how language is used in different subject areas and focus on developing a culture where language learning is at the heart of all learning. An emphasis on developing these essential skills will lead to high levels of GCSE English success and give learners across all key stages the skills they will need to progress and become confident, successul learners.
