Continuing Professional Development for Teachers
Practical and sustainable whole school solutions that deliver high quality teaching and learning.
A CPD strategy for the whole school linked to coaching
Case Study

A new head teacher at a girls school in Birmingham is determined that the school can retain it’s OFSTED status of good with outstanding features and work towards becoming an outstanding school throughout. We have worked with the CPD Manager at the school to develop a coaching model for Heads of Departments and Heads of Student Progress to help them to develop a set of leadership and coaching skills that will support the cascading of good and effective practice across the school. The aim is to maintain the current 76% of lessons observed as good and some that are deemed to be outstanding and to create a culture of peer to peer reflection and impact driven professional dialogue that helps all teachers towards becoming outstanding.

Our training so far has included:

  • Embedding consistent teaching and learning
  • Introduction to Coaching for good leadership
  • Talking Teaching and Learning
  • A focus on active and participative pedagogy that leads to high quality autonomous learning
  • Practicing coaching techniques for leaders and managers focusing on reflection and peer to peer dialogue

This school is committed to putting a whole school CPD strategy in place where everyone is involved and coaching is at the heart of the drive towards excellence and improvement.
